A DAY WITH
Grandchildren
Artist Statement
I am a senior adult student at Snow College. I am taking classes to maintain a good mind, have fun, get out of the house, learn new things, and be around amazing people. I am not preparing for a career, so I have the benefit of choosing what I want to learn and, where photography is concerned, what I want to photograph. I appreciate great landscape photographs. However, I feel a photograph is more interesting if It has a person in it.
Being a grandmother, I like to photograph my grandchildren. Photographing children is fun and challenging. They have a multitude of moods and have their own ideas. Some like to pose, and some do not. They are intrigued by my equipment (and want to use it or play with it) and most of them cannot sit still. FUN!
I am relatively new to the camera and lens I am using. This book is an exercise in learning to use my equipment. Also, remembering and incorporating the skills I have learned in class. My daughter in law, Sydney, has been wanting me to do so black and white portraits of her children. So, for this assignment, I decided to spend a day in the studio with some of my grandchildren.
