Sharpening, Blur and Smudge Tool
Sharpen Tool
The Sharpen Tool allows you to sharpen individual parts of your image to bring out different aspects by increasing the contrast between pixels
1. Select the Sharpen Tool.
2. Change the brush tip size, hardness, and strength according to what you want.
3. Click and drag the mouse/your brush on the area you want to sharpen. Don’t overdo!
4. Different modes will have different effects.
a. Normal: Sharpens what you drag your mouse over
b. Darken: Sharpens the pixels darker than your foreground
c. Lighten: Sharpens the pixels lighter than your foreground
d. Hue: Causes complementary colors to appear
e. Color: Same as hue
f. Saturation: Increases the saturation
g. Luminosity: Sharpens the light in photos
Blur Tool
The Blur Tool allows you to blur individual parts of your image by decreasing contrast between pixels. This can be used to give a shallow Depth of Field look and smooth out lines, wrinkles, blemishes, etc.
1. Select the Blur Tool
2. Change the brush tip size, hardness, and strength according to what you want.
3. Click and drag the mouse/your brush on the area you want to blur.
4. Different modes will have different effects.
a. Normal: Blurs what you drag your mouse over
b. Darken: Blurs the pixels darker than your foreground
c. Lighten: Blurs the pixels lighter than your foreground
d. Hue: Blurs the pixels of complementary colors
e. Color: Blurs color
f. Saturation: Blurs and increases saturation
g. Luminosity: Blurs the light in photos
Smudge Tool
The Smudge Tool carries pixels under the brush.
1. Select the Smudge Tool.
2. Change the brush tip size, hardness, and strength according to what you want.
3. Click and drag the mouse/your brush over the area you want smudged.
4. Different modes will have different effects. See the above for the effects and change for smudge.
