Final Project - Samantha Gordon

I've come to recognize the importance of living my life outside versus behind any sort of screen, whether it's a TV, computer or phone screen. It is normal for people want to watch fake lives instead of getting out and living their own. One of my childhood role models talked often of the dangers of spending too much time in front of screen. A family friend, white water kayaker and musician wrote a song about his love for the outdoors. One part of the song talks about how people sit back and suck their lives from their TVs. This painting a clear, passive way to disengage from life and since then I've made sure I would never have that approach to life. Artificial experiences are so easily accessible and have become a danger to one's authentic life experience. I places the TV outside in various landscapes to show the stark contrast of the artificial and the reality.
