Final Book - April Carver

Adventures of a Snail

Artist Statement

Not many people think of snails as beautiful and intricate creatures, but I do. The miniature world is a fascinating place and my mission is to explore this world. I chose to photograph snails not as gross creatures that ruin your garden but give them a new perspective as human like creatures in a doll house. The photos were a way for me to give them a more human connection by putting them with miniature things that children often play with.
My biggest influence in my photography is Anne Quigley. My inspiration for this project was my love for the miniature world. The use of extension tubes allowed me to get closer to show the true beauty of the snails.

Disclaimer: No snails were harmed in the making of these photos.
