Final Book - Greer Garlick

Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Comparison is the thief of joy." Due to the advancements of technology, social media makes it very easy for people to compare themselves to what society has defined as the "perfect" image. As a result in comparing yourself to someone else, your self-esteem and self love may decrease. The images of models that we see in magazines have been tampered with in Photoshop in order to look "perfect." There is nothing wrong with wanting to look or dress a little bit nicer, but no one should have to spend a substantial amount of time and money on clothes and makeup just to feel good about themselves. In this project, I used very little Photoshop. The subjects are full of flaws but I did not fix the flaws. My purpose is to show how the magazines have set a standard that, in reality, we can't reach. It is important that we feel comfortable in our own skins.
