Title: Sightless Emotions
My images focus on the emotions and feelings that are often
hidden behind closed doors. We, as human beings, are taught to always put our
best foot forward. As such, we too often do not let others see that we may feel
insignificant, distraught, or burdened by the events of our day to day lives.
However, this tendency to hide our negative emotions can lead to false
perceptions that everyone but you is feeling satisfied with their life. In
reality, for many people, this is not the case. All individuals have struggles
and adversities at various times in their lives. They may be large or they may
be small, yet everyone has them.
Throughout my
images I wanted to portray some of the emotions that are often held tightly
inside a person until they are in a solitary place. By hiding the identity of
the people I used and by using a single light source to capture the inanimate
objects I also used, I want individuals to realize they are not alone in their
trials even though they may feel they are. There are others around them who
have felt or are feeling pain and anguish, and who are also holding their
feelings tightly inside. As members of the human race, we need to break down
the idea that we have to always put our best foot forward. It is okay for
others to see that we have deep and often poignant feelings and emotions as we
go through our individual trials. Allowing others to see us in these difficult
times can often lead us to the help we may need to make it through the
challenge.
