Finding The Looking Glass
My mom is an avid storyteller. As children my siblings and I used to spend hours immersed in the stories and illustrations that she would share with us. Authors and illustrators like Hans Christian Anderson, the Brothers Grimm, Lewis Carroll, and Arthur Rackham sparked my imagination at a very young age and helped ignite the fire that helped inspire this project.
I created the sets and composed my images hoping to create a theatrical version of two of my favorite fairytales, Alice in Wonderland and Princess and the Pea. I used items from everyday life for the set. Artificial light brings out the intense color in both stories. My siblings and roommates served as models and assistants.
I want my viewers to understand that everything you see has a story.
