A
small world

In "A Small World", we are brought low
to the earth and see things not usually seen by human. Although we may much the
same at distances, there is so much detail that goes unnoticed right before us.
In this series, I have taken a different approach to landscape photography.
What is seen in these images may reflect what is normally seen by a small
mammal or insect. These images cover a wide variety of surfaces that show so
much more texture than one usually sees. There is also much distance covered in
each photo. My intention was to give detail of what might lay inches in front
of the camera, while at the same time, providing the viewer with the whole
picture. By doing this, the foreground is not taken out of context. These
images can be seen as what they really are. By getting a close look at the
subjects in foreground, it makes it easier to imagine what the objects in the
distance may look like. Although the title "A Small World" may seem
ironic because of the vast landscapes, it is important to note that the
perception of the images comes from a small creature and in turn makes us feel
smaller.
